A Truly Unique Wedding Venue

What is it That Captures Your Imagination?

Each couple is as unique as the story that brought them together. As are their dreams of the ideal spot to celebrate their love. Some couples envision exchanging their vows on a beach, with the surf as their backdrop and a casual open air clam bake for their guests. Others imagine a country farm wedding with their reception in a big old barn in the back pasture. One couple may be inspired by the idea of lush hotel ballroom in the city with a panoramic view of the skyline, while another aspires to find a quiet country club setting overlooking crisp, manicured fairways. For others, none of those options feels quite right.

What is it that captures your imagination? What is the perfect wedding venue that’s as unique as you are? Perhaps it’s The historic 1620 Winery, a truly unique wedding venue in a fully restored 1800’s rope factory. It’s where rustic marries elegance.

A Fully Restored, Historic Winery in Cordage Park.

The 1620 Winery once served as rope-braiding building when part of the historic Plymouth Cordage Company (The nations oldest and largest manufacturer of ship rigging since the early 1800’s). In 2015, Bob and Raquel Mullaney undertook a comprehensive renovation of the gorgeous historic building as a labor of love in order to restore and preserve its rugged beauty and its historic character. The project was completed in 2017  and the new 1620 Winery reopened as a fully operational Winery, wedding and events venue.

The Grand Ballroom

The centerpiece of the Winery, our grand ballroom with its exposed brick walls, soaring beamed ceilings, wide plank floors and massive fireplace, this space creates an unforgettable setting for your celebration.

The Main Bar

Just outside the ballroom, our custom built wooden bar with nautical rope accents (a nod to the history of the Cordage Rope factory) is a magnet for guests. With award-winning 1620 Wines on tap (along with full spirits, craft beers and the most creative cocktails anywhere).  There’s plenty of space to mingle around the bar and casual seating near the fireplace.

The Barrel Room

Our newly-completed “Barrel Room” is a gorgeous spot for your on-site ceremony (or a smaller, more intimate reception). The distinctive wall of authentic wine barrels (which can be obscured by semi-sheer floor to ceiling draperies) creates a rustic complement to the neutral tones and white floral accents in the space. With a full bar of its own, the Barrel Room can also be a great option for your rehearsal dinner or bachelorette party.

The Barrel Room Bar

Picking up the woven-front look of the main bar (This time crafted from authentic wood wine barrel staves, instead of rope), the Barrel Room Bar is always warm, inviting and fully stocked. Situated in the corner of the Barrel Room, the placement of the bar preserves the open, feel of this versatile space. Of course we offer a full selection of spirits, 1620 Wines and local craft beer.

Cocktail Seating Area

At 23,000SF, the 1620 Winery has ample room for hundreds of guests but we also think it’s important to create a sense of intimacy with cozy seating areas like this one next to the fireplace across from the main bar in the cocktail area.

Outdoor Patio

Whether it’s a Summer wedding, fall celebration (or any other time of year), our outdoor patio overlooking Cordage’s historic railway is the perfect spot for guests to step outside without feeling like they’ve left the party. With overhead string lights, a comfy row of wooden rockers and an array of bar-height tables, fire pits and heaters available for chilly evenings, the patio becomes an outdoor extension of your cocktail hour and reception. (We can add giant Jenga and Cornhole for even more fun.)

Aging Room

One of the great things about having your wedding in a historic winery is that there are one of a kind photo opportunities everywhere. Your photographer may want you to step through the massive sliding doors to our Aging Room to capture the moment. (You’ll get to see this room before your wedding day as well since all booked couples are invited to join our Vintner for a private tasting session to select which award-winning 1620 Wines you’d like to have available for your big day.
